Who may enter this competition?
This competition is open to Australian redidents 18 years and over. For full details please refer to the Terms & Conditions.
I am a professional photographer - can I enter?
Professional photographers can enter this competition. This competition is not a photographic competition, it is designed to see how creatively you complete your projects.
When is the Registration period?
There is a pre-registration period where you can leave your name and email address to be added to the mailing list for the briefs. You actually register for the competition once you complete your projects and upload them through the Flickr website.
Am I under any obligation to purchase anything?
None whatsoever. However, if you have any product enquiries, contact your nearest Canon reseller.
When is the Upload period?
Project 1: Upload Period Mon 08/09/08 to Mon 22/09/08
Project 2: Upload Period Sat 27/09/08 to Mon 13/10/08
Project 3: Upload Period Sat 18/10/08 to Mon 3/11/08
Project 4: Upload Period Sat 08/11/08 to Mon 24/11/08
Will late entries be accepted?
Late entries will not be counted towards the project prizes (Major or Runner up prizes). They will however be counted towards the Grand Prize provided that your entries have been received prior to 5pm AEST Monday, 24 November 2008.
How many times can I enter?
Each entrant may enter only once but can upload up to 36 images across the 4 briefs, or up to 9 images for each brief.
How do I upload a photo?
Click here and follow the steps outlined on the Flickr site.
May I upload portrait or landscape photos?
Yes. All photo entries will be accepted as long as the content adheres to the rules stated in the Terms & Conditions.
What resolution should my image be?
Your image should be a minimum of 500 x 500 pixels, 72dpi.
What size does my image have to be?
We will accept images up to 10MB in size. As a guide for quality, images should not be smaller than 500KB.
What format do you accept?
Flickr officially supports JPEGs, non-animated GIFs, and PNGs. You can also upload TIFFs and some other file types, but they will automatically be converted to and stored in JPEG format. Click here for more details.
Do I need to use the images supplied?
Not at all. We encourage you to use any images you like to complete the projects.
Can I submit and entry that includes all of the project in one shot?
Yes.
How long after I submit my photos will they become viewable within the Gallery?
Images will be held pending approval. Vetting will take place twice daily Monday to Friday.
I submitted an image and cannot find it in the Gallery? Why?
Either it is still waiting for approval from the Flickr team or it was deemed inappropriate and cannot be entered into the competition.
I have just won a Major Prize or become a Runner up. When do I receive my prize?
You will receive your prizes within a month of being contacted.
How do I obtain the correct Flash Plugin in order to view the site correctly?
The website is best viewed using Flash Player 7 or later. Users who cannot view the site using older Flash Plugins should upgrade their Flash Plugins. There is no NON Flash alternative.
Can I edit my image details after submitting?
Yes, this will be managed through the Flickr site. Go to www.flickr.com to change your details.
Is my privacy protected?
You will be subject to the privacy policies of both Canon and Flickr.
Will my entry be valid if I used photo editing software on my image?
Yes, provided that you have satisfactorily answered the project brief.
Can I complete projects after the close date has passed?
Yes, you can upload projects after the upload period has closed but it will only count towards your entries for the Grand Prize and will not be valid for Major or Runner up prizes for that project. All entries must be received prior to 5pm AEST Monday, 24 November 2008 to be considered for the Grand Prize.
If I complete a project after the upload period does it still count towards being part of the Grand Prize?
Yes, provided it is uploaded prior to 5pm AEST Monday, 24 November 2008.
Do I need to actually print and create the object for the task or can I just upload my designs?
Yes, you need to actually create the objects. You cannot just submit the designs.
Who will be judging the projects?
A representative from Canon Australia Pty Ltd and Leo Burnett will judge the entries based on how well people creatively complete the briefs.
Do I need to be a Flickr member to take part in this competition?
Yes, the competition site is run through the Flickr site so the only way to upload the images of what you create is through Flickr.
